Carlo Guardi Obituary

Carlo Guardi passed away on January 22, 2024. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and friend. He spent 95 years teaching all of us so many things that will never be forgotten.

He was born to Giuseppe & Maria (Laura) Guardi in New York City. Besides his parents, he had many family members that passed before him, including his brother, Frank Guardi; his sister, Francis (Tony) Ciuffo; and his special daughter-in-law, Teresa Guardi.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years Phyllis (DeFulvio) Guardi; his sons, Robert Guardi and Joseph (Kay) Guardi; his daughter, Lynda (Steve, daughter Christina) Moya; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Robert (Adrianne, children RJ & Annabelle) Guardi, David (Amber, children Andrea & Sofia) Guardi, Danielle (Josh, children Keyaira, Joshawa & Malia) Laing, and Patricia (David, children Carter & Gio) Youngs. He is also survived by his loving and faithful caretaker, Karina Terrones.

His family was everything to him. No matter the distance or time zone, he made it a priority to video chat with them all everyday.

Carlo was employed by the Binghamton City School District for over 30 years. He was President of the CSEA Chapter #866 for many years. During this time he would host many spaghetti dinners for the teachers and staff wherever he worked. He became known for his spaghetti sauce, which many people would order from him.

Carlo will never be forgotten for his words of wisdom, his one liners and sometimes even speaking a language all his own. He was a very well respected man. No matter where he went, what city he lived, everyone took a liking to him. He had so many stories to tell and would always have a crowd that would listen to him. The love of food and cooking were his passion. Sunday dinner was more than a tradition it was always a must for his family. The feasts were endless especially around the holidays. He was very proud of his Sicilian heritage and was always looking to pass on the traditions that he grew up with to his family.

In the last five years he and Phyllis have lived in Illinois with Lynda & Steve. They were able to experience many things including meeting new friends, going on outings, attending events, new Italian Restaurants, specialty delis and much more.

Words will never be able to describe the mark Carlo left on this world. A man that was truly one of a kind. He will be missed beyond measure.
