Bernice “Bea” Saunders, age 93, of Elgin, IL, passed away on January 16, 2024. She was born July 12, 1930 in Arlington Heights, IL to her loving parents, Charles and Maria (née Luerssen) Schwantz.

Bea graduated from Arlington Heights High School, Class of 1948. She worked as a radiology clerk at Holy Family Hospital in Des Plaines, IL, until retirement.

Bea married her husband William in 1953. They moved to Wheeling, IL in 1955 and had 2 children. After William's passing in 1967, Bea remained in Wheeling until moving to Elgin in 2022 to be closer to family.

Bea was hardworking, loving, and caring. She loved animals, and was an avid reader. She made friends wherever she went. She loved spending time with family and friends, and especially enjoyed doting on her great-grandchildren.

Bea was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Saunders; brothers, Wilbert (Dorothy) Schwantz and Harold (Myrtle) Schwantz; sister, Esther (Paul) Bradley; grandchildren, Thomas James Trierweiler and Joseph Trierweiler; and nephew, Scott Bradley.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Trierweiler; a son; grandson, Thomas Joseph (Tiffany) Trierweiler; great-grandchildren, Blake, Lukas, and Tyler; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial will be held from 4:00pm until funeral service at 7:00pm, Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.  Michael Murschel will be officiating.
