Alistaire Augustus Mack, age 53, of Chicago, IL, passed away on November 23, 2025. He was born September 22, 1972 in Georgetown, Guyana, South America to his loving parents, Victor and Rita (née Greaves) Mack.

Alistaire graduated from Schaumburg High School, Class of 1990. He was an automotive mechanic, a trade showing understanding of how things work and the importance of having patience and precision to bring a car back to life again. His love of craftsmanship extended into his personal time as a child, where he enjoyed building model cars—meticulous creations that reflected both his talent and his deep appreciation for detail.

Alistaire found joy in simple but meaningful places. He loved visiting the zoo, where he felt at peace among the animals he admired. His affinity for the color black and his enduring love of rock and roll were part of the unmistakable character that made him uniquely himself.

Among the stories cherished by those who knew him is a memorable moment from his youth: during a visit to Great America Amusement Park, he was once mistaken for the childhood actor Gary Coleman of Diff'rent Strokes, a confusion sparked by his “chipmunk cheeks.”

Alistaire is survived by his mother; son, Ruben Rashon Palmer; siblings, Kevin (Maureen) Mack, Kurt Mack, and Lisa (Barrett Dungy) Mack; aunts, Evelyn Hermanstyne and Marjorie Everlsey; cousins, Sharon (Jose) Coronado, Suzanne (Clairborne) Summerville, Shelly (Mark) Grundy, Sandra Brummit, Muammar and Mustafa Hermanstyne; nieces and nephews, Gloria (Sean) Lavrisa, Sonya Mack, Kaelyn Mack, Noah Mack, and Jaden Dungy; and Godmother, Joan Collins.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 8:00pm, with funeral service at 7:00pm, Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.  A repast will follow.
