Albert "Pie" Atterberry Sr., age 86, of Elgin, IL, passed away on October 20, 2022.  He was born August 19, 1936 in Marianna, AR to his loving parents, Solomon and Allie (née Richardson) Atterberry.

Albert was raised with many siblings.  Annie Lou, Corine, Louise, Mary, Daisy, Solia, Pearl, Mable, Wency, Clayborn, and Saul.  All have preceded him in death, except for Pearl who resides in Chicago, IL, and Wency who resides in St. Louis, MO.

Albert was the beloved father of 8 children.  Joann Moore (preceded him in death), Iris Huntley, Glendora Brown, Sheila Clasberry, Albert Atterberry Jr. (preceded him in death), Yvette Wilkins, Lavatory Atterberry, and Cortez Atterberry.

Albert Atterberry Sr. united with the love of his life, Beverly Barfield Atterberry, in Holy matrimony on September 17, 1960 in Chicago, IL.

Albert was nicknamed "Pie" as a child because he loved sweets.  He was a hardworking man, and was a protector and provider for his family.  Albert knew the Bible very well.  His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have all been brought up in the Word of God.  He loved the game of football.  He loved watching western movies and The Three Stooges.  He was a great husband, father, grandfather, cousin, and uncle.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Albert left behind his wife of 62 years, 2 siblings, 6 children, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  They truly love and miss Albert and will cherish all the wonderful memories of him.

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00pm, Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.  Pastor Melvin Wesley will be officiating.
