Willliam H. Dreher, age 87, passed away Saturday February 1, 2014 at The Vines at countryside in Elgin, Illinois. William was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the union of William and Blanch (DuMoulin) Dreher.
William served in World War II as Infantryman with the 309th Infantry Regiment and the 78th Division, serving in North Africa, Middle East, and Europe with honor until victory over Nazi Germany in 1945. William was awarded the Bronze star (the combat infantry badge), Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupational medal (Germany), Europe African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He took great pride in his service throughout the years. He played an essential role in erecting the Hoffman Estates and Elgin Veteran memorials.
Visitation will be Thursday February 13, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with honors being rendered by the VFW Post 5151 at Madison Funeral Home 305 Park Street Elgin, Il 60120. Interment will be Friday February 14, 2014 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421. Friends will meet at 11:30 AM where Military honors will be rendered.
