Warren L. Koplin, age 93, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Presence St. Joseph Hospital. He was born in Chicago on October 17, 1921 to the loving parents of Stanley and Mary Jane Koplin.
Warren served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II. He married the love of his life, Lucile, on March 5, 1948. Following the war, he worked at the Elgin Watch Factory during the 1950s. He went on to retire from Rockwell International. During his retirement, Warren enjoyed delivering prescriptions to Elgin families for Chris at The Medicine Shoppe. Warren was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He lived an active lifestyle, and loved to swim from an early age. He always enjoyed tinkering around the house. Warren was a member of Elgin American Legion Post 57 and the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 799. Later in life, Warren was known for his sense of humor and was the social butterfly of his neighborhood, Oak Crest Atrium.
Warren was preceded in death by his wife, Lucile, three sisters and five brothers.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary (Ron) Blake and Kathleen (Matthew) Koplin-Christ, son William (Judith) Luscher, six grandchildren, Dana (Joe) Hilgart, Brian (Courtney) Luscher, Jeff (Teri) Luscher, Jennifer (Dale) Diedrich, Chris Blake, and Emily (Steve) Whalen, and six great-grand children, Grace, Kiley, Maggie, Paige, Landry and Ian.
Services will be private, with private burial at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Blvd, Elgin, IL. Friends are invited to make memorial contributions to the nonprofit residence Oak Crest for their Atrium Chair Campaign, 204 S. State Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
