Victor Hugo Menendez, 60, passed away at Sherman Hospital on September 11, 2015. He was born in Guatemala on July 1, 1955 to the loving parents of Cipriano and Margarita Menendez.
As a young man, Victor played professional soccer in Guatemala, and playing for Comunicaciones was by far his favorite. His love for soccer never wavered, and he was a passionate, life-long fan.
At age 24, Victor moved to the United States of America with the love of his life, Judith. They were married on May 5, 1980, and recently celebrated their 35thwedding anniversary. Victor was a humble, caring family man. He was passionately devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. Victor was known for his sense of humor and always enjoyed cracking jokes with family and friends. He was also a very talented baker and enjoyed taking his chances with scratch-off lottery tickets.
Victor was preceded in death by his sisters, Rosa Menendez and Miriam Granados, and his brothers, Carlos and Julio Menendez.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judith; three children, Anna (Edwin) Zhinin, Andrea Menendez, and Victor (Tifannie) Menendez; and four grandchildren, Haylee, Victor, Nathaniel, and Elliana.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, Illinois 60120. Funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 272 Division St, Elgin, Illinois, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, with interment to follow at Dundee Cemetery.
