Scott Phillips Menke, age 71, of Elgin, IL, passed away on December 29, 2020, at home, surrounded by his family, after a courageous yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born August 17, 1949 in Elgin, IL to his parents, Harold and Betty Niss, and and was later adopted by Kenneth Menke.
Scott was a graduate of Larkin High School, Class of 1967. He joined the United States Army in 1970, rising to the rank of corporal before his honorable discharge in 1972. He earned a National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.
Scott was extremely proud to work for the David C. Cook Publishing Company, a company to which he devoted 50 years of his life.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Mark Menke. He is survived by his wife, Cinda (née Knickrehm) Menke (whom he married on October 8, 1977); children, Joshua Menke, and Laura (Gabriel Ibarra) Menke; sister, Charlotte (Lee) Eskildsen; sister-in-laws, Julie Menke and Julie Sinko; nephews, Bryan and Kyle Menke; and niece, Dana Mays.
A memorial will be held from 1:00pm until service with full military honors at 3:00pm, Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
