Sam Green, age 67, of Elgin, passed away on December 30, 2015 in Elgin, Illinois. He was born on July 13, 1948 in Dyersburg, Tennessee to the loving parents of Jessie and Inez Green.
Sam was married to the love of his life, Amy, for 40 years. He loved to travel with his family and his favorite destination was the Caribbean. In his spare time, he enjoyed being in the great outdoors, fishing, snorkeling, and camping. He also loved going to country and rock concerts. Sam worked as a fleet manager for Special Service Inc., retiring after 24 years of dedicated service. He was known for his strong work ethic and was an active member of the International Brotherhood of the Teamsters, Local 705. Sam also served his country with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1965 to 1968. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Amy; daughter Jessica (Tom) Lee, son Paul (Renee) Green, son Ryan Green, son Sammy (Jennifer) Green; mother Inez Green; grandchildren Aiden and Austin Lee, Bella and Elec Green, Sydney Green; and a large extended family and many close friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00p.m., with celebration of life to follow at 1:00p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St, Elgin, Illinois. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to American Cancer Society Cancer.org/donate.
