Roberta “Berta” Husar (nee FrankowskI) passed away on February 27.”Bert” to her friends and “Booba” to her family, was a tough and witty lady, who’s life was a multi chapter handbook on resilience.
Born and raised in Chicago, this is where she met her eventual husband Raymond “Tony” Husar. Then two become three, and Jacqueline was born.
The Husars would move to Crystal Lake and then ultimately Lake in the Hills, IL, where they spent the rest of their lives. Life was filled with many blessings, and a good amount of heartache, but through it all, Berta faced it with both dukes up and a whole lot of humor.
Berta loved cooking, puzzles, hosting family gatherings, card games, board games, river boat gambling, Kosher salami, Elvis, ghost stories, bingo, shopping, and her three grandsons and one great-grandson …. oh, and did we mention Elvis?
She is proceeded in death by her husband Raymond; her daughter Jacqueline; her mother and father, Alexander and Adeline Frankowski; her sisters, Joanne, Christine, Patricia, and Joyce.
She lives on through her grandsons, Ryan (Amber), Matthew and Jeremy Lulow; great-grandson, Anthony Lulow; Brother, John (Ronnie) Frankowski; Son-in-Law, Dennis Lulow; “second daughter” Amy Hilbourn; her many nieces and nephews, and countless friends including and especially Joyce “Tiny Tim” Ullsmith.
Special thank you to Geraldine for her selfless devotion and friendship to Berta in her last years.
Services were private, and the family will be holding a memorial at a later date TBD.
A lifelong Elvis fan who’s soul and energy will live on forever. We’d be remiss not to close this chapter with “Ladies and Gentlemen, Berta has left the building.”
Final arrangements entrusted to Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St, Elgin IL 60120.
