Richard Wilharm, age 82, passed away on February 15, 2016 at Tower Hill Health Care Center in South Elgin. He was born October 20, 1933 to the loving parents of Carl and Marguerite Wilharm.
Richard was a member of the Class of 1952 at Elgin High School. He started working as a draftsman for the Elgin Watch College. He later moved on to working as mechanical designer for Electro Dynamics until his retirement in 1996 after 44 years of faithful service. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling across the United States, playing board games and Scrabble (sometimes even by himself!).
Richard is survived by his brothers Roger (Sharon), Carl, Lawrence and sister Lois Wilharm, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister Verlys Awe, his brother Harland Wilharm, one nephew and one niece.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 23, from 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St, Elgin, 60120. Internment will be at 1:00p.m. Wednesday February 24, 2016 at Bluff City Cemetery with a graveside services Pastor Hannibal Frederich officiating.
