Reinaldo Acevedo, age 61, of Elgin, passed away on August 23, 2016 at Journeycare of Barrington. Reinaldo was born in Aguada, Puerto Rico, to his loving parents, Maximino and Maria Acevedo.
Loved ones will remember Reinaldo as a man with a big heart of gold who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone who needed it. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and especially enjoyed telling jokes and playing pranks on unsuspecting friends and family
In his free time, Reinaldo enjoyed cooking Puerto Rican food. He taught all of his kids to cook, leaving a legacy of culinary knowledge. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Reinaldo is preceded in death by his son, Samuel Acevedo; his brothers, Eugenio, Maximino “Maco,” and Francisco “Sico” Acevedo; and his sisters Cira and Carmen “Min” Acevedo.
Reinaldo is survived by his children, Natacha and Reinaldo J. Acevedo; grandchildren Brianna Stewart, Jayna Clark, and Lorenzo Hicks; his twin sister, Confersora; sisters Engracia “Alta,” Isabel “Chave,” Luz Maria “Lucy,” Julia, Maria Luisa “Witche,” Encarnacion “Cuca,” Esperanza “Inda,” and brothers Claro, Eulogio “Gollo,” Luis Antonio “Luis”, Elias, and Wilson “Tivo.”
