On August 22, 2018 at 8:46pm, the heavens opened to welcome Ramiro “Ron” DeRueda Sr home, receiving total healing in his body and entering fully into the presence of his Lord and Savior.
The birth and death of this great man however is not nearly as relevant as the days, nights, and years that he chose to live his life fearlessly to the fullest showing true faith, strength and courage up until the last moment.
Ron left a lasting impression to all those who had an opportunity to call him – colleague, friend, uncle, cousin, comparde, tio, padrino, brother, brother in law, cunado, mentor, father in law, dad, grandpa and husband.
Ramiro was born July 9, 1946 in Granjeno Texas, son of Manuel DeRueda and Maria D. Ramos.
He spent the beginning years of his life living on the ranch in Granjeno Texas growing up with his mother, grandparents,aunts, uncles, and cousins he held very close to his heart for his entire lifetime.
In 1961 Ron and his mother moved and lived in Valley View, Illinois for 1 year before moving to Elgin, Illinois- In 1964 he would marry the love of his life of 55 years, start his family, and develop his passions for track and field, automotives, cars, drag racing, bowling, golfing, baseball, softball, coaching, umpiring, and die-hard Steelers fan. He was a Car Club member for the Super Torquers in 1965, Board member of Club Gudalupano- Sports Coordinator, Member of the Pan American Golf Association- Tournament Chairman, Centro De Informacion y Progreso- Board Member and Screening Committee. He also, served on the ushering team at Templo Calvario- known today as Discovery church.
He was employed at Lee Wards, Motorola, Chicago Rawhide, BF Goodrich, and put Merlin’s Muffler and Breaks on the map as Regional District Manager, went on to own and run Ron’s Automotive and Kwality Automotive. He retired as a Master Mechanic in 2002.
He is preceded in death by his beloved mother Maria D. Ramos, Elgin IL.
Ramiro is survived by his wife, Corina C. DeRueda, Children, Ramiro DeRueda Jr, Andrea M. DeRueda- Martinz (Joe L. Martinez), Corina A. DeRueda, one and only grandson Jacob A. Martinez, loved and cherished by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and family near and far.
His legacy for his love of music- Oldies but Goodies (Roy Orbison being his favorite), strong goal orientated work ethic, loyalty, competitive spirit, his never ending will to fight , staying true to his faith and beliefs despite the circumstances, will be left for those who knew him and the generations to come.
