Paul William Carrier, age 81, of Genoa, passed away April 20, 2017 at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born May 20, 1935 in Elgin to his loving parents, Louis and Bernice (nee Slocum) Carrier.
Paul graduated from Elgin High School. He served as an clerk and cook in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, earning a National Defense Service Medal. Following his military service, he worked as a truck driver for Burren Transfer for 32 years.
Paul married the love of his life, Nettie, after meeting her at their church, Illinois Chapel. They shared 58 wonderful years together and raised three children.
In his free time, Paul was an author who enjoyed writing stories. He treasured time with family, and was incredibly proud of his granddaughters.
Paul was preceded in death by his sisters, Marilyn Christiansen and Dorothy Carrier; his brother Louie Carrier; and his granddaughter, Dena Carrier.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Nettie Bellows Carrier; children Kellie (Charles) Ward, Paul (Donna) Carrier, and Heather Bouton; grandchildren Samantha, Heidi and Gina Scaccianoce; and sister Barbara Behrs.
Funeral Service with full military honors will take place at 1:30PM April 28, 2017 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421, Rev. Tim Perry officiating.
