Paul Gustav Blumka, age 50, of Pingree Grove, passed away August 28, 2020. Paul was born April 28, 1970 in Chicago to his loving parents, Walter and Mildred Blumka.

Paul attended St. Paul Lutheran School in Burbank, IL and graduated from Reavis High School, Class of 1988. He went on to study Computer Science at Valparaiso University, earning his Bachelor of Science degree.

Paul had a successful career as a Senior Systems Engineer. He worked for Advocate Health Care, IBM and Pearson Education. He enjoyed his job and was extremely knowledgeable about computer systems and operations. He also enjoyed his informal role as the family computer wiz – if a computer problem came up, he never hesitated to help.

Paul met the love of his life and best friend, Debbie, on-line at AOL.  They were married on August 8, 2009 at Brookfield Zoo and shared 11 wonderful years of marriage together.

Paul enjoyed attending events with Debbie, including NASCAR, Indy Racing League, Chicago Wolves hockey, baseball, and concerts. Even a number of his nieces’ softball games.  His parents often joined them for family outings at sporting events.

Loved ones will remember Paul as kind-hearted and always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed pitching in on home improvement and landscaping projects with family, including projects at the homes of his parents and brother and sister-in-law.

Paul had a love for Christmas time and Outer Space, and his passions came together in his annual Outer Space Christmas tree that featured many Star Wars, Star Trek, and NASA Ornaments.

He had a tremendous love for family, especially his three nephews and four nieces. Over the years, he helped them with computer questions, school projects, and even chaperoned a few school field trips.

Paul was a quiet man, with a very tender love for animals. He enjoyed bird-watching, placing many bird feeders in his backyard. He also sponsored an Orangutan for many years at Brookfield Zoo.

Paul was fun, witty, and a joy to be around. He had a big heart filled with compassion for others, understanding, and a kind, giving spirit.

Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Debra “Debbie” Blumka (Ingham); his parents, Walter and Mildred Blumka; sister Kathy (Warren) Schmitt; brother Mark (Kris) Blumka; Sister-in-Law and Brother-in-Law Diana & Gary McNeil; and his nieces and nephews, Mathew, Ryan, Sarah, Grace, Rachel, Jeremy, and Carissa.
