Norman John Holtz, age 92, of Elgin pass away Jan 6, 2015 at the Greens of Elgin. Born June 5, 1922 in Dundee to the loving parents of John and Clara Holtz.
Norman was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was married to love of his life Joan for over 51 years. He was a graduate of Elgin High School Class of 1941. He enlisted in the Army right after High school and serving in India and South Pacific. After the War Norman returned and started working in the vending machine industry then eventually starting his own business Sherwood Vendors. He then sold the company to A.H. Vending and retiring after 20 years. He then worked for The City of Elgin as a part time attendant of Lords Park pavilion and Hawthorne Hill and retiring once again after 30 years of service. He was on the board of directors for the Greens of Elgin where he also lived. Norman was a founding member of Elgin Cardinal Association of Retarded Children.
He is survived by his Daughter Jan ( Jim) Hengtgen Grand Daughters Erin (Ned) Swanson and Deborah Hengtgen. Great grandchildren Greta Swanson, Claire and Natalie Sherlock and his sisters Helen Rediger and Evelyn Schellenberger.
He proceed in death by his wife Joan and his son Jeffrey.
Visitation will be Saturday Jan 10, 2015 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and service will follow at 11:00 am at Madison Funeral Home 305 Park Street Elgin, Illinois 60120 Interment will be at Bluff city Cemetery 945 Bluff City Blvd Elgin, Il 60120.
