Nannie “Sue” Gross, age 72, of Elgin, passed away November 27, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. Sue was born July 4, 1945 in Tiptonville, TN, to her loving parents, Evans and Nannie Martin.
Sue graduated from Lincoln High School, class of 1964. She went on to work as a cook at several nursing homes for 25 years.
Sue married the love of her life, A.J. Gross in October 1964. They raised five kids together until A.J. passed away and Sue became a widow at the age of 36.
Loved ones will remember Sue as a Christian all of her adult life who loved life and her family, had a caring heart and was always in good spirits. She loved music and dancing, especially going out to listen to live bands with her friends. In her free time, she enjoyed playing Bingo and was a crossword puzzle expert.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, A.J. Gross; brothers and sisters, Earl Martin, Charles Martin and Jack Martin, Clara Jackson, Mary Martin, Corine Williams, Sara Lee McCall, and; and cousin Nell Williams.
Sue is survived by her children, Anthony (Michelle), Sandra, Marina, Janice (Jeff), and Katrina; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 9:00a.m. until time of Service at 10:00a.m. Saturday December 2, 2017 at Living Gospel Church, 1515 Dundee Ave, Elgin, IL 60120, Rev. Del Gado officiating. Interment to follow at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Blvd, Elgin, IL 60120
