Melissa Ann Westbrook, age 39, of Elgin, passed away on November 27, 2015 at Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, Illinois. She was born on October 25, 1976 in Chicago, Illinois to the loving parents of Johnny and Otnie Westbrook.
Melissa attended Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville, later completing training to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for Astacare in Elgin. She was known for her outgoing personality and big heart that lead her to help friends and family alike. Melissa was also known for her bold, outspoken, and honest personality – she never hesitated to share her opinion. In her free time, she enjoyed walking and cooking. Family and friends especially enjoyed her famous pepper steak and Italian beef sandwiches.
Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Westbrook.
She is survived by her children, VanShawn Turman, 17, Desmond Westbrook, 16, Treynae Westbrook, 14, and Treylisa Westbrook, 13; her mother Otnie Westbrook; her sisters Audrey Eaton and Otnie (Jeffrey) Shiree Roper; her brother Johnny Westbrook, Jr.; and her nieces and nephews, Alexandria Adams, Tajhenae Adams, Devonte Eaton, Jeffrey Roper and Jaydien Roper.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St, Elgin, Illinois 60120, with services to follow at 12:00PM. Interment will be at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Blvd, Elgin, Illinois.
