Mary H. Kilton, age 81, of Elgin, IL, passed away on November 15, 2021. She was born June 1, 1940 in Manchester, CT to her loving parents, Harding and Mary Stephens (née Clemens).
Mary earned her BA in English from St. Joseph College in West Hartford, CT. She was a member of MENSA, and went on to work as a copywriter at Yale University.
Mary enjoyed rescuing and caring for animals, especially cats. Her love extended to fish, as well — she rooted for the fish to escape on family fishing trips to Missouri.
Mary was a master trivia player who enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She loved to travel, especially to Ireland and England.
Mary will be remembered as a beloved Godmother, Aunt and Sister. She passed away quietly and peacefully after a 7-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Anthony Stephens. She is survived by her brother, Harding (Rita) Stephens; nieces, Maryann (Sean) Kopeny and Rita (Russ) Kloss; great-nieces, Reagan Kloss and Madelyn Kopeny; and great-nephews, Robby Kloss, Sean Klopeny, and Dylan Kopeny.
Visitation will be 9:30am until funeral mass at 10:30am, Friday, November 19, 2021 at St. Peter Damian Catholic Church, 131 South Crest Avenue, Bartlett, Illinois 60103. Fr. Chris Ciomek will be officiating.
Interment will be in St. James Cemetery, 360 Broad Street, Manchester, CT 06040.
