Marcella “Marcy” Victoria Krill, née Sako, age 93, of Hoffman Estates, passed away at home on November 8, 2020. Marcy was born June 25, 1927, in Cokato, MN to her loving parents, Henry and Elina Sako, née Hanno.

Marcy met her husband Charles “Roy” Krill because she was the “Slick Chick of the Week” on his Army base. Roy wrote an article about her in the Fort Snelling Newspaper on base and then asked her out. They married on September 21, 1946 at her parents’ home. They lived in Chicago, Berwyn, Brookfield, and Cary, IL, and then lived 30 years in St. Louis, MO. They were happily married for 59 years until he died in January, 2006

Marcy and Roy were avid travelers and visited every U.S. state except Alaska together, which she travelled to after his death. She loved to stay active, and was rarely idle. If a friend or family member wanted to go somewhere or do something, she was a ready companion!

Loved ones will remember Marcy as an outgoing leader, ready to take charge when needed. Even when she wasn’t traveling, Marcy kept herself busy in the community. She volunteered at many church activities, was a Den Mother and Girl Scouts Troop Leader, a member of the Garden Club, and President of the School Parent Association, leading the school lunch program. She and Roy were on a weekly bowling league and she played on a golf league in St. Louis. She also loved to play games with family and friends.

Marcy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Roy” Krill; parents, Henry and Elina Sako; siblings, Elma Young, Florence Lovgren, Elmer Sako, Helmi Isaacson, Ruth Johnson, Lila Hill, Walfred Sako, Verna Sako, and Baby Girl Sako; and one grandson, Ryan Minch.

Marcy is survived by her children, Gloria Minch, Nona (James) Stuenkel, Curt (Irene) Krill, Gail (Keith) Marshall, and Jan (Stephen) Snyder; grandchildren, Eugene, Jeremy, Joshua, Jaime, Jacob, Victoria, Hillary, Vanessa, Veronica, Valarie, Tiffany, Kelly, Stephanie and Janine; and 12 great grandchildren.

Interment will be private.

  1. Rest in peace Mrs. Krill, you and Roy were special friends to my parents and I truly treasure the memories of growing up as your neighbors. Great times, great friends, God speed, say hi to Roy for me

  2. Slick Chick. LOL.
Never knew that. I do have great memories of her volunteering at the Zoo. Laughing and smiling and playing cards (solitaire).
A wonderful woman, I did have the pleasure of knowing.
Thank you to Gail and Gigi knowing each other, which allowed me to meet my best friend and “sister” Jan.
And allowed me to spend many hours, days, at their home.
I am blessed to have known her.
