Manuel B. Tovar, 81, of Elgin, passed away at Advocate Sherman Hospital on October 26, 2018. He was born December 23, 1936 in La Rosita Tamaulipas, Mexico to his loving parents, Benito and Isidra Tovar (nee Becerra).
Manuel worked many jobs throughout his life including Apco-Valve and Primer (30 years) in Schaumburg, IL and Chicago Rawhide (10 years) in Elgin, IL.
He met the love of his life, Imelda (Elizondo), on the dance floor when they bumped into each other while dancing with other partners. The two shared 65 wonderful years of marriage and together raised three children.
Manuel was a devoted family man and provider, with a big heart. Loved ones will remember his great sense of humor and boisterous laugh.
In his free time, Manuel enjoyed working on cars, going to the Centre of Elgin and hanging out with his buddies.
Manuel was preceded in death by his sister, Blanca Ruiz.
He is survived by his loving wife, Imelda Tovar; children Manny (Rosette) Tovar, Sergio Tovar, and Margy (Pat) Wilcox; siblings Guadalupe Tovar, Leticia Compos, and Rosita Villarreal; and grandchildren Michelle Rodriguez, Christina Rodriguez, Joshua Tovar, Brittany Tovar, Brianna Tovar, Elliott Tovar, Sara Tovar; and great-grandchildren, Adrian Acevedo and Abriana Acevedo.
Visitation will be 5-9:00p.m. Friday November 2, 2018 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin IL 60120, continuing 10:00a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 until time of service at 11:00a.m., Pastor Phil Lopez officiating. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 4619 N Ravenswood Ave, Chicago IL 60640.
