Lucy Chaney, age 89, of Elgin, IL, passed away on January 16, 2022. She was born December 23, 1932 in Lakewood, OH to her loving parents, Bruce and Gladys (née Henderson) Trussler.

Lucy grew up in Warren, PA, and graduated from Warren High School, Class of 1950. She then attended the Lutheran Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, graduating in 1953.

Lucy worked as a flight attendant for TWA Airlines from 1954 to 1956. She later returned to nursing, working as an RN at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL, in the nursery and pediatrics wing from 1970 to 1995. After retirement, she worked at Pier 1 Imports part-time for seven years. She also volunteered at the local food pantry and homeless shelter.

Lucy was a lifelong member of the Covenant Church, and active in weekly Bible studies, council and deacons, church council, and Covenant Women. She was an avid lover of animals, sports, and nature.

Lucy was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill George; daughter, Cynthia George; stepsons, Scott Chaney and Dan Chaney; and her mother, father, and stepfather.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Chaney, whom she married on June 26, 1992; daughter, Jennifer George of California; sons, Leo George of Hawaii, and Biff (Pam) George of Oswego; stepdaughters, Susan (Mark) Siekierski and Sandy (Jess) Davies; granddaughter, Dana George; step-grandchildren, Kyle (Kelsy), Madison, Hope, and Matthew; twin brothers, John (Barb) Trussler of Oregon and Tom (Barb) Trussler of North Carolina; one niece; and four nephews.

Visitation will be 10:00am until funeral service at 12:00pm, Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Evangelical Covenant Church, 1565 Larkin Avenue, Elgin, IL 60123. Pr. Jeorge Holmes will be officiating. Masks are required, please.

Interment to follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens, 14N689 Route 31, West Dundee, IL 60118.
