Linda May Curry, age 76, of Elgin, IL, passed away on October 23, 2021. She was born November 11, 1944 in Elgin to her loving parents, Robert and Esther Culver (née Hill).
Linda graduated from Elgin High School, Class of 1962. She worked as a hairdresser, and owned two salons over the course of her career. Her first salon was in her home in Libertyville, IL. She moved to Texas and there she opened her second salon, Classic Cuts, in Crosby, TX. She later became the activity director for Alzheimers patients at the St. James House in Baytown, TX. When she later moved back to Illinois, she became the activity director at The Vines in Elgin, IL.
Linda had a laugh that was contagious. She was hardworking, and loved to take care of those in need. She was a faithful soldier for God, and she loved to talk and spread God’s word. She wanted everyone to know Jesus. She volunteered at church, Wayside Cross, and the Renz Addiction Counseling Center. She loved listening to music and giving free haircuts, and she believed in the power of prayer.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Erin Lynn Curry; siblings, Judy Idstien, Katherine Keith, Robert (Jane) Culver, Sally Shoonhoven, Pete (Vicki) Culver, and Myra (Larry) Radle; grandchildren, Jacob Frenny, Joshua Frenny, and Josiah Frenny; great-grandchildren, Faith Frenny, Jeremiah Frenny, and Victoria Frenny; and nieces and nephews, Bob Idstien, Brian idstien, Dan Moeller, Robin Culver, Toby Culver, Beth Haddad, Amy Wallace, Matt Shoonhoven, Caleb Shoonhoven, Tyler Culver, Ben Culver, Marla Jean, Steve Hauer, Julie Dominic, Renee Spencer, Jody Szczech, and Mark Radle.
A memorial will be held from 10:00am until funeral service at 11:00am, Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Grace Evangelical Church, 1800 Bowes Road, Elgin, IL 60123. Pastor Tim Chinn will be officiating.
Interment will be private.
