Linda L. Kuehl, age 74, of Elgin, IL, died of cancer on October 31, 2021. She was born October 12, 1947 in Morrison, IL to her loving parents, Ronald and Doris Cook (née Dohner).
Linda attended Elgin public schools through ninth grade before moving with her family to Normal, IL, where she graduated from University High School, Class of 1965. She graduated from MacMurray College in 1969 with a degree in English Literature, and later from Franciscan University in 1982 with a Masters in Library Science.
Linda taught in District U-46 from 1969 to 2002, teaching English at both Larkin and Streamwood high schools before becoming a librarian at Streamwood in 1982.
Her love of literature extended beyond the classroom. She remained a voracious reader and had bookshelves in nearly every room in her house. She was passionate about many topics, interests, and causes, chief among them women’s rights, animal welfare and the environment.
Linda will be remembered for her incandescent intelligence, incisive wit, and laughter. She was fiercely devoted to her family and friends. For those who knew and loved her, the world has become dimmer.
Linda is survived by her husband, Michael Kuehl; sisters, Mary Ann Cook and Ramona Cook; and nephew, Michael Cook Cusumano.
Funeral services are pending.
