Leona Lauman, age 89, of Elgin, passed away on August 26, 2016 at home. Leona was born May 25, 1927 in McLeansboro, IL to her loving parents, John and Hazel Tyler.
Leona graduated from Norris City High School and worked as an accounting bookkeeper. She married Phil Lauman and they enjoyed 38 loving years together.
Leona was a talented artist, known for her beautiful paintings. She had a witty sense of humor and enjoyed making loved ones laugh. Friends and family were of utmost importance and the joys in her life. She was the BEST grandmother.
Leona served as past President of the local chapter of Zonta International, and she travelled to Europe to attend the Zonta International Convention.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip W. Lauman; her brother, J. Bertis Tyler; and her sister, Violet Hocker.
Leona is survived by her son Dennis (Pamela) Bump, of Littleton, CO; grandchildren Tyler (Vanessa) Bump, of Portland, OR, Jamieson (Jessica) Bump, of St. Petersburg, FL, and Jennalyn (Alex) Craven, of Burbank, CA; sisters Rochelle Graff and Vonda Krahn; niece Sharon Campbell, who was a wonderful companion and friend; nieces and nephews Denise Hocker, Bruce Krahn, Susan Damby, J. Kent Anderson, Mike Anderson, and Robin Smithpeters; her great-niece, Heather Slutzky, who supported her in so many ways; and her great-great-nephew Jeff Slutzky.
