Jose Manuel Gonzalez, age 64, of Elgin, passed away on December 20, 2020. He was born December 9, 1956 in Lorain, Ohio to his loving parents, Victor Gonzalez and Enilda Carrion.

Jose was a gifted musician who loved to sing. He met his wife, Mildred, while singing at a venue. He danced and sang to her, and they were happily married for 31 years.

In addition to music and singing, Jose enjoyed baseball. He always said, “Despues que yo vea que los Cubs gane la serie mundial, entonces yo puedo morir en paz.” (“After I see the Cubs win the world series, then I will die in peace.”)

He adored his children and grandchildren.

Jose is survived by his children, Joey, Marita, Mariella, Suzzette, Jose (Cher), Joselyn, and Tito; sister, Carmen; and grandchildren, Jonathan, Docian, Lismari, Yarianis, Pedro, Maya, Victor Manuel, Giovanni, and Oscar.

Visitation will be 5:00pm until funeral service at 8:00pm, Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.

Mourners are encouraged to review the funeral home COVID-19 public health policies ahead of time. Face masks are required to enter the facility.

Interment will be private.
