Jim Lowell Owsley, age 69, of Elgin, passed away on April 3, 2021. He was born December 26, 1951 in Christopher, IL to his loving parents, Virgil and Juanita Owsley (née McPorter).
Jim honorably served as radio operator and specialist in the United States Army from 1971 to 1972. He then worked as a welder at Flexonics for 42 years before retiring.
Jim and his wife, Mary, were married for 25 years. They were childhood friends. They raised two boys together.
Jim loved to hunt and fish. Loved ones will remember his great sense of humor. He was a hard worker, and always ready to help others in need.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Owsley; father, Virgil Owsley; and sister, Marilyn Votaw. He is survived by his sons, David (Christy) Owsley, and Mike (Jaime) Owsley; mother, Juanita Owsley; brother, Lonnie Owsley; grandchildren, James, Jason, Rachel, Aiden Vivian, and Elliot; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by a presentation of military honors, on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
Mourners are encouraged to review the funeral home COVID-19 public health policies ahead of time. Face masks are required to enter the facility.
Interment will be private.
