J. Henry Womack, age 79, of Elgin, IL, received his wings on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born January 19, 1943 in Denmark, TN to his loving parents, James Arthur and Roberta (née Caruthers) Womack.

J. Henry graduated from West High School in Denmark, TN and relocated to Elgin, IL at a young age. He was employed by Woodruff and Edwards Foundry in Elgin, IL. He also worked Construction.

J. Henry joined Bethesda Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Emeritus Pastor James Marks. He remained a member under the leadership of Pastor Cedric Simmons. He served as President of the Deacon Board, member of the Men Department, served on the Anniversary Committee and Finance Committee.

J. Henry was a quiet, hilarious, hardworking, loving man who cherished his natural family and his church family. He was a longtime White Sox fan, and enjoyed watching the games while wearing one of his many Sox hats. He also enjoyed fishing.

J. Henry was preceded in death by his loving parents, James Arthur and Roberta Womack; brothers, Ivory Womack, Roosevelt Grimes, Odell Womack, and James Womack; and sisters, Sallie Bobbit, Mosie Bills, and Josephine Lucas.

J. Henry leaves to cherish his loving memories his daughter, Yolanda (Denise) Baldwin of North Aurora, IL; son, Gregory Womack of Elgin, IL; granddaughter, Shronda Baldwin of Westmont, IL; sister, Barbara (Alfred) Snoddy of Winfield, IL; brother, Lee Issac (Carla) Womack of Woodstock, IL; and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.

J. Henry will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be 9:00am until funeral service at 11:00am, Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Elgin Bethesda Church of God in Christ, 454 Hickory Place, #4246, Elgin, IL 60120. Pastor Cedric Simmons will be officiating.

Interment to follow at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Boulevard, Elgin, IL 60120.
