Howard E. Bierman, 92, passed away on February 13, 2016 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
He was born January 4, 1924 to the loving parents of Charles and Elizabeth Bierman.
Howard served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 246th Field Artillery Battallion. He served as an artillery gunner who aided in the liberation of the Philippines from Japanese control. Howard was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1945.
Following the war, Howard worked as a custodian for U-46 schools and as a stock man for Eagle Foods. He married the love of his life, Delores, and was a loving father to his two sons.
In his free time, Howard played softball. For 17 years, he played catcher for the Campbell Trucking team. He also enjoyed latch-hooking, puzzles, working in his yard and cookouts with his family. Howard will be remembered by friends and family for his strong-willed personality.
Howard is survived by his two children, Howard C and Gary A. Bierman, five grandchildren Kori, Jodi Jason, Joshua, Jared, two great grandchildren Jacob and Mikayla Shove
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Bierman.
