Harold Hagen, age 94, life long resident of Elgin, passed away on March 6, 2015 at JourneyCare in Barrington.  Born July 27, 1920 in Dundee, IL, to the loving parents of Herman and Johanna Hagen.

Harold was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He married the love of his life, Aurelia, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elgin, where he was a member for 71 years. Harold retired at the age of 62 from Shake Proof ITW in Elgin, after nearly 40 years of service. In his spare time, he loved bowling with family and friends whenever he had the opportunity. He was known for his friendliness and caring demeanor, with friends and strangers alike.

A big family man who loved family gatherings, Harold loved to sing the entire “Happy Birthday” tune to his loved ones every year.  He also was a huge cubs fan who loved rooting for his team.

Harold is survived by his wife Aurelia, daughter Linda Whitney, grandson Jeffrey C. Spencer, granddaughters Rita Gray Susan (James) Demery, Kristie Hagen, Heidi (Anthony) Van Pelt, and Amanda (Shawn) Guinn, great-grandchildren Joshua Whitney, Harley Demery, Jordan Demery, Samantha Gray, Mikayla Hagen, Kyleigh Ancheta, Faith Ancheta, and Ava Guinn, and great great-grandchild Mariah Gray.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 5 pm to 9 pm at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, Illinois. Lying in state on Friday, March 13 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service, 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Elgin, IL with Rev. Frederick Hannibal officiating.
