Gloria Crager, 88, of Elgin, passed away June 17, 2019 at home surrounded by loved ones.  She was born July 20, 1930 in Elgin to her loving parents, Martin and Mary Harmening (Parker).

Gloria worked for Illinois Watch Elgin Case Company and at Olan Mills Photography as an Appointment Secretary Instructor.

Gloria worked for Symonds-Madison Funeral home and its predecessors, Stout-Madison and Madison for many years as a secretary and visitation attendant.  She had a loving heart and it was not uncommon for Gloria to cry along with families who had lost their loved ones. Her devoted service to many Elgin families was valued and memorable.  She often said working in the funeral home was her favorite job.

Gloria was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bartlett.  In her free time she enjoyed watching The View on television with her daughter.  They often took 90 minutes to watch the show because they would stop the recording and discuss the topic amongst themselves before replaying the discussion.

Gloria also enjoyed reading fiction set in the 1930s and 1940s, so she could reminisce and share her own stories about growing up with her daughter.

Gloria was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mickey; her daughter Lynn Sherwood; and her three younger brothers.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Kristin Crager.

The family will receive friends Noon until time of funeral service at 1:00p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1116 East Devon Avenue, Bartlett, IL, Rev. James Bauman officiating.  Interment will be private.
