Gladys T. Paredes, age 82, of Elgin, IL, passed away on November 14, 2021. Gladys was born October 15, 1939 in El Salvador to her loving mother, Josefina Valle.

Gladys was born and raised in El Salvador, Central America. She worked as a teacher. She moved to the United States in 1975 and worked in the hospitality industry.

After retiring in 1999, she returned to El Salvador. Gladys later moved back to the U.S. in 2020, after her husband passed away, to reside with her daughter and son-in-law.

She was married to her dear husband, Roberto, for 58 years.

Gladys was a kind, caring and generous individual that loved cooking, people, animals, and flowers. She loved to help others physically, emotionally, and spiritually with her wisdom.

In her spare time, Gladys enjoyed her pets, working in her flower garden, crocheting, and cooking.

Gladys recently took several English as a Second Language classes via Zoom at Elgin Community College. She FaceTimed with her grandson to practice her English and learned to play games with him during the pandemic.

Loved ones will remember Gladys as a devoted wife and mother. Above everything, she was forever a teacher. She thrived on sharing her knowledge and wisdom, and always wanted what was best for you.

She was a strong woman who always put others’ needs before her own. She was always looking for ways to improve her loved ones’ lives by offering help, advice, or anything else within her reach.

She was admirable and brave as she faced her final challenges at her end of life. She often worried more about her family than she did about the pain she was feeling.

We were all blessed to have witnessed her teachings.

Gladys was preceded in death by her dear husband, Roberto Paredes; brothers, Oscar Carcamo and Rutillo Carcamo; sister, Luz Carcamo (Manuel) Trujillo; niece, Judith Trujillo Carcamo; and cousin, Maria Valle.
