Ethan Robert Harrison Hartwell, age 26, of Elgin, IL, passed away on October 28, 2021. He was born July 7, 1995 in Elgin to his loving parents, Todd Hartwell and Robin Finnell.

Ethan graduated from South Elgin High School, Class of 2013. He worked as a field agent for the TNT Complete Facility Care.

Ethan enjoyed playing both video games and sports, and loved playing dodgeball and Frisbee golf. A fond memory his father has of Ethan happened on his first day of football practice when Ethan was just 7 years old. He ran up to his dad with his helmet on and said, “Watch this!” He then ran as fast as his legs would let him right at a chain link fence, bounced off of it, rolled on the ground, and popped up, ready to do it again!

Ethan had a smile that lit up the room. He was a friend to all he met, and was generous to a fault. He was super funny and quick witted, outgoing and thoughtful. He cared very much for others’ feelings and needs. He was brave and confident, and never wanted to disappoint you.

Ethan is survived by his daughter, Ashlynn; parents, Todd Hartwell and Robin Finnell; stepmother Tish Hartwell; sister, Victoria; aunts and uncles, Sue, Tim, Tom, Ted, Woody, and Robbie; and cousins, Dayne, Rachel, Phil, Pete, Maggie, Dan, David, and Mike.

Visitation will be 5:00pm until funeral service at 7:00pm, Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.  Pastor Timothy Hartwell will be officiating.
