Edward Jackson, Jr., of East Dundee, age 83, passed away at home on Sunday, January 28, 2018. He was born on October 28, 1934, in Abbeville, AL to his loving parents, Edward Jackson, Jr. and Alberta Gerkins.
Edward worked at Mohawk and Super Cartage in Chicago, IL. He met the love of his life, Mordine, through his sister, and the two shared 39 wonderful years of marriage together. Edward worked hard to provide for his large family.
Loved ones will remember Edward as one who made people laugh. He loved to horse around with his grandkids by pulling them with his cane while they watched T.V. In his free time, he loved to fix cars and cook.
Edward was preceded in death by his son, King Edward III; nephew, James Edward Jackson; and his grandchild, Tela Jones; uncle, Lee Roy McCray; aunt, Pearlean McCray Harrington, son Jimmy Dunner and sister Quillie Jackson.
Edward is survived by his dear wife, Mordine; eleven sons, Larry Grubbs, Cary Grubbs, Rodney Jackson, Ronnie Jackson, Cedric Jackson, Jerry Jackson, James Earl, all from Abbeville, AL, Frank Barnes from Aliceville, AL, Steven Dunner and James Dunner from Elgin, IL and son in-law Antwon Jones from Carpentersville, IL. Daughters, Shirley Thomas, Mary Jean Thomas from Abbeville, IL, Latanya Rodgers, Latasha Ross from Chicago, IL, Pearlean Jones and Thelma Dunner from Carpentersville, IL, Bessie Barnes and Laura Dunner from Elgin, IL sisters Alma Marie Carter aka Nook, Altha Jackson aka Pumpkin from Abbeville, AL. 39 grandkids and a host of great grand, many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Visitation will be 10-11:00a.m. Friday, February 2, 2018 with services at 11:00p.m., at Progressive Baptist Church, 305 Ann St., Elgin IL 60120, Rev. Willie Tate officiating. Interment to follow at Dundee Township Cemetery – East, 420 Dundee Ave, Dundee, IL 60118.
