David William Dekker, age 69, of Montgomery, IL, passed away November 15, 2018 at home. David was born in LaPorte, IN, on July 15, 1949, to his loving parents, Launcelot and Evelyn Dekker (nee Oleineczek).
Following graduation from high school, David served his country with the U.S. Marines in Vietnam, where he earned a Good Conduct medal, National Defense Medal, and Vietnam Campaign medal.
David had a generous heart and supported many charities. I his free time, he enjoyed cheering on the Chicago Bears, hunting, fishing, and teaching disco dance lessons. He cared about his health and encouraged his family to take Sea-Veg supplements.
Loved ones will remember him as a proud father and grandfather who treasured seeing his grandchildren for the very first time.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn.
He is survived by his father, Launcelot; his children, Adam, Alex and David Dekker; sister Marsha Dekker; and his grandchildren Lillie and Lance Dekker.
Memorial visitation will be 12:00p.m. Saturday, November 24 until time of Memorial Service at 3:00p.m., Rev. Tim Perry officiating, at Symonds Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin IL 60120. Interment will be at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in South Bend, IN.
