Cynthia grew up on a farm in rural Kansas.  She married Tommie J. Croddy in 1957, and they shared 41 years together, raising a wonderful family.  Together they raised five children, and Cynthia was very active in all their activities. She was involved in East Aurora Schools PTA, Band Boosters, Boys and Girl Scouts and many sports teams.  Cynthia worked as a waitress at several local restaurants as well as for the census bureau as a Team Coordinator.

Cynthia was a strong community leader in Aurora.  She was president of the Interfaith Food Pantry and was instrumental in converting the old city incinerator into what is now Hesed House.  She was a long-time member of Fourth St. Methodist Church and the Naomi Circle.

In her free time, Cynthia enjoyed cross-stitch and needlepoint, flower and vegetable gardening, camping, reupholstering furniture, swimming, and reading.  She was a loyal Bears fan.  She was also an excellent cook and baker, writing two cookbooks with her friend, Sue Gilla.  They taught cooking classes together based on the cookbooks.

Cynthia loved to travel and was fortunate to be able to take several trips when Tommie retired. She loved her grandchildren, and was very proud of each of them. She had a big heart and had loving, caring personality, which showed as she took care of her father-in-law after the passing of his wife.  Following husband Tommie’s passing in 1998, she took on the care of her mother for many years. Following that, she married G.E. “Ed” Croddy, who passed away after several years of marriage.

Cynthia was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Tommie Croddy and G.E. “Ed” Croddy; and her brother, Charles (Darlene) Roeth.
