Cora “Terry” Skog Whitehead, age 92, of Elgin, IL, passed away on May 13, 2020 at The Vines Senior Homes in Elgin. She was born August 7, 1927 to her loving parents, Floyd Edward and Isabel Mabel Smith (nee Petersen).
Terry graduated from Steinmetz High School in 3.5 years. Later in life, she worked in accounting at Rabino Ladd Enterprises.
In 1946, she met her first love, Roy Skog, at the Aragon Ballroom. He asked her to dance, and told her that night, “I am going to marry you.” She was not convinced at the time, but six months later they were married; beginning a strong married life together full of love and laughter as they raised their three children. The two were married for 49 years, until Roy passed away.
Terry was dedicated to her children, volunteering as a parent advisor for Cub Scouts and Job’s Daughters. She even made matching vests for her son’s high school rock and roll band.
She was later married to Deloss Whitehead, and shared eight years of happy marriage with him until he passed away.
Loved ones will remember Terry as a warm, generous woman who always noticed others. She gave generous and sincere compliments, and had a talent for making your heart smile. She also had a hearty laugh, strong work ethic, and positive attitude.
In her free time, Terry loved dancing, reading, entertaining her many friends, and traveling with loved ones. She was active with the Crystal Lake Women’s Club, and Red Hat Society.
