Clarence V. Young, Sr. passed away on March 29, 2016 at Tower Hill Health Care Center in South Elgin, IL. Clarence was born November 24, 1926 in Owensboro, KY to the loving parents of Alvin and Willa Mae Young.
Clarence served with the U.S. Army in Post World War II. In 1950, he married the love of his life, Eleanora. Clarence owned and operated Candy Cane Restaurant and Catering in Elgin from 1970s to early1980. He also owned and operated CV’s Snack Shop in Chicago.
In his spare time, Clarence enjoyed woodworking and building projects for family. His favorite food was hamburgers. He will be remembered for his smile and always having kind words to say about everyone he met.
Clarence is preceded in death by his sister, Mabel.
Clarence is survived by his loving wife, Eleanora Young; children, Mark (Giuliana) Young, Vernon (Kathy) Young, Randy (Margaret) Young, David (Christine) Young, and Allen (Melissa) Young; sister Kate Parson; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. Saturday April 2, 2016 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St, Elgin, IL 60120. Memorial service will be at 4:00p.m., Rev. Tim Perry officiating.
