Charles Robert “Rob” Owens, age 57, of West Chicago, IL, passed away on September 27, 2021. He was born October 30, 1963 in Hannibal, MO.

Rob graduated from Hannibal High School, Class of 1982. He joined the United States Navy that same year, serving on the USS Acadia (AD 42). He reached the rank of STG2 Charles Robert Owens USN when he was honorably discharged in 1988.

Rob was very athletic, running in four Chicago marathons, and also winning the Long Beach Ironman competition. “He was swole!”

Rob married his soulmate, Heidi, and her son, Tyler, in a joint ceremony on July 5, 2020. He would always say after that, “I plead the 5th.” He finally had the family he deserved and wanted.

Rob was the most generous, kind hearted, non-stop talker. He loved people and he loved life. Now we wish we could hear him again!

Rob is survived by the loves of his life, Heidi Wagener and Tyler Anderson; his beloved rescue dogs, Dammit, Beavis, Butthead, and Thor; his in-laws; two sisters; nephews and nieces; and so many friends.

Visitation will be 11:00am until funeral service at 3:00pm, Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120. The family asks that you wear either red, white & blue clothing, a funny shirt, and/or a funny hat.

Mourners are encouraged to review the funeral home COVID-19 public health policies ahead of time.

Interment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL.
