Carmela Crispino, age 95, of Barrington, passed away at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital on October 12, 2016. She was born May 22, 1921 in Chicago to her loving parents, John and Rose Ravalli.
Carmela worked as a flight attendant and tavern owner. She was an independent, hardworking grandma with a joyful sense of humor. Carmela was loved by every one she met. She had a big heart, always seeing the best in everyone and never hesitated to turn the other cheek.
At the age of 60, she restarted her life as a single woman to care for her five year old grandson, Attillio, giving up everything to make him into the man he is today.
In her free time, Carmela enjoyed watching Judge Judy and spending time with her grandchildren. Loved ones will remember her as the “Queen of Harlem Ave” who ruled the neighborhood with an iron “hanger.”
Carmela was preceded in death by her husband, Art Crispino; son Joseph Crispino, and siblings Vito Rovalli and Connie Caprio.
Carmela is survived by her sister, Bay Ciffone; grandchildren, Attillio, Miranda and Samantha Crispino; great-grandchildren, Kayla Madison, Alyssen, Kayla Rae, Nathan, Gabriel, and Joseph Crispino; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her dearest friend, Dorothy Bell.
