Barbara Marie Marcello, age 89, of St. Charles, IL, passed away on June 4, 2021. She was born February 5, 1932 in Akron, OH to her loving parents, Byron and Dorothy McCrady (née Gougler).

Barbara was born and raised, in Akron, OH, where she met and married her first husband, Rolland Sydney Ruth in July, 1956. They later divorced. She then met her second husband, Durant “Danny” Marcello, and they were married for 46 years until he passed in 2011. During that time, they moved to Boca Raton, FL, where they lived for about 40 years.

Barbara was a hard worker, often saying, “Work first, play second.” She held a number of jobs over her work career, including as an employee at The Firestone Bank in Akron, OH, a paralegal for a law firm in Boca Raton, FL, and co-owner of a beauty salon called Danny’s with her second husband.

Barbara enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, and doing manicures, and she especially loved spending time with family. She was a fabulous hostess, always inviting family to celebrate holidays and birthdays at her home. A favorite family memory was when she, Danny, and their children sailed for six weeks from Sandusky, OH to Key West, FL aboard their boat, Macatoosa.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Danny John Marcello; parents, Byron and Dorothy McCrady; and brother, Jim McCrady. She is survived by her children, Lucretia Cawthorne, Christopher Marcello, Anthony Marcello, and Vincent Marcello; siblings, Shirley Ritchey, Jr., Karen Todd, and Danny McCrady; grandchildren, Morgan Wetendorf, Travis Cawthorne, Nicole Marcello, Joey Marcello, Tony Marcello, Jr., Nina Marcello, Michael Marcello, John Marcello, Sara Marcello, and Cora Marcello; great-grandchildren, Zeke, Remi, and Ranger Wetendorf; and seven nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2900 E. Main Street, St. Charles, IL 60174. Later this year, she will be laid to rest at the South Florida National Cemetery with her husband.
