Avelina Bueno, age 87, of Palatine, Illinois, passed away on June 30, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Avelina was born on April 13, 1928, in Zacatecs, Mexico, to the loving parents of Jesus and Romana Bueno.
She moved to Rolling Meadows, Illinois in the 1970s, where she worked for Spotnails, Inc. After 18 years of dedicated service, she retired in 1992.
Avelina was a devoted, caring mother and grandmother, who was loved dearly by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Luz, Andrea, Rosenda, Amelia, and Aurelia Bueno, and her brother, Luis Bueno.
Avelina is survived by her son, Manuel (Yolanda) Carranza; daughter Mary (Cuca) Carranza-Pace; and nine grandchildren, Manny, David and Michael Carranza, Rosemary Carranza-Tomson, Darla Gates, James Carranza, Leland and Lourdes Mijjelson, and Melissa Pace.
Avelina’s children remember her with the following words from the poem, Sleep, Mommy: “Sweet smile on your face as you sleep the pain away, Resting in God’s arms now, although in the ground your body lay. He needed another angel in the Heavenly choir and that’s why you had to go. As you promised, you are still with us watching your children here below.” We will miss you much more than words could ever say.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, Illinois 60120. Funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 272 Division St, Elgin, Illinois, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, with interment to follow at Dundee Cemetery.
