Annie Louise Tomlin-Bonner, age 84, of South Elgin, IL, passed away on September 23, 2021. She was born March 26, 1937 in Humboldt, TN to her loving parents, Flora Turner and Charlie Cooley Tomlin.

At a young age, Annie migrated to Elgin, IL where she settled her roots and raised seven amazing children that she adored and loved selflessly and unconditionally until her last breath.

Annie accepted Christ early in life under the teachings of Superintendent Elder Spates Sr. of Spates Temple C.O.G.I.C. She then became a lifelong member of Community Center C.O.G.I.C. with founder and Pastor Emeritus Andrew L. Johnson Sr., which was later changed to Destined to Reign, officiated by Pastor Andrea Johnson-Williams.

Annie had an extensive career in food service. She worked for more than a decade at Sherman Hospital, then worked for School District U-46 until retirement.

Annie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mama Lucy; both her parents, Flora and Charlie; her sisters, Helen and Mary Lee; her brother Isaac; her eldest son, Nathaniel; and her grandson, Terron “Bollie.”

Annie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her siblings, Jasper, Sim, Charles, Gloria Ann, and Shirley; her loving children, Timothy, Teresa, Luann (all of Elgin), Lucy (Daryl) Hawkins, Charlie (Theresa) Tomlin (both of Racine, WI), Shontell (Lavell) Henyard (of Chicago), and Gloria and Stephanie Jane (both of Elgin); 21 grandkids; way too many great-grandkids to count, though her heart was big enough to love them all; plus a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be 9:00am until funeral service at 11:00am, Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Destined to Reign Church, 375 North Drive, South Elgin, IL 60177. Pastor Andrea Johnson-Williams will be officiating.

Interment to follow at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Boulevard, Elgin, IL 60120.

Mom Hi’ it’s me Charlie i know you can feel me talking about you right now,and as always i remember that time when you worked all those hours just to buy me some blue jeans and i was so excited thinking I was the cleanest guy in school until I realized that they was all the same pair. And i came home telling you that they was talkin bout me wearing the same pants i remember that you told me to tell them as long as we both knew they were new i know you probably smiling right now and that’s why I worte you to say thanks for showing me how to keep my head up no matter what people say. 💜🤍💜Love you Mama your son Charlie 😘

I have stored the sound of voice in my heart and will never forget that lovely smile of yours ,stayed happy in the lord all time and never let anything , or anybody get you down, you had a praise out of this world that no other could ever duplicate, thank you for accepting me as your adopted daughter and filling my heart with so much joy and sunshine every time I saw you , may your beautiful memories continue to change lives forever you have left an Ext ordinary life for your children to follow… may you for ever rest in peace…

  6. Our family share lots of good memories and I always cherish those memories with Ms Anna Louise, I thank you for being there for my dad, you will be greatly missed.

  7. I just found out about Mrs Bonner. I was her mailman. A wonderful person. I once told one of her sons; that if the world had more people like her in todays world, we wouldn’t be having the problems we have today. A very uplifting person. Always was upbeat, smiling, and Friendly. She was truly a genuine person. You could tell that she is a Christian, by the way she carried herself. I will miss her immensely. My Heart and Prayers, goes out to all Family and Friends. I am looking forward to seeing her in Heaven someday.
