Alan L. Span, age 49, of Elgin, passed away on January 24, 2017 in Geneva, IL.  He was born in Chicago, IL on September 21, 1967 to his loving parents, Earlie Span, Sr. and Ollie Mae Span-Cannon.

Alan had a great sense of humor and wonderful personality – he would instantly light up every room he entered.  Alan loved helping others and was known a protector who loved his family dearly.  A kiss on the forehead would let you know how special you were to him.

Loved ones will always remember his 49th birthday party, where his daughter, Latecia, surprised him by coming home from college.  She hid in a gift bag, jumping out to surprise him – Alan hugged her so tight, and the expression of love on his face was priceless.  In his spare time, Alan enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, billiards and listening to live bands.
