Abebe Aychelouhem, age 63, of Elgin Illinois passed away January 17, 2016 at Advocate Sherman Hospital. He was born in Ethiopia on September 14, 1952 to the loving parents of Aychelouhem Weldentensai and Yewebesefer Adefrese.
Abebe began his career as a Lieutenant in the Ethiopian Army before coming to the US. He emigrated to the United States in 1973 and attended Judson University, then Judson College where he was a member of The NIICC for Soccer. He was a valued & accomplished teammate for Judson’s Men’s Soccer team from 74-76. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in political science in 1976. He held various jobs after college including Ace Coffee Vending, and most recently for NTN Bearing Corporation of Elgin as a Industrial Machinist. Abebe was a fond member of the Ethiopian American community in Elgin. Abebe had a great interest in government, and world politics. He was a die-hard Bears fan and if they were losing, cheered for the Packers. Abebe was a faithful man of God who was found peace in his Savior. He is already greatly missed.
He survived by his Sisters Semegnesh, Mesrake, Tsion, and Daniel and Fassil.
He proceeded in death by his brother Abel and his loving friends Amha Tessema and Wessene Zewde.
Visitation will be Friday January 22, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Services will be Saturday January 23, 2016 at 10:00 am at Symonds Madison Funeral Home 305 Park Street Elgin, Illinois 60120.
